INTERNATIONAL MESSENGERS
SEND A MISSIONS TEAM!
Many churches feel that their role in world missions is very small - they could never really make a difference. But your local church can make a difference! Your congregation can be personally involved in front-line evangelism in Eastern Europe.
International Messengers is committed to helping churches make a difference in world missions. Our Evangelistic English Language Camp ministry provides a unique opportunity for your church to recruit a team of 5-10 people, ages 18-80, to go overseas for about 2-1/2 weeks.
Your team, along with an IM staff member, would conduct a 7-10 day conversationalEnglish camp for students ranging in age from 15 to 50. Team members would focus on building relationships with the students while leading a small group Bible study, teaching conversational English, leading conversation times and assisting with recreation and special events.
These teams have tremendous impact on those who come to camp. God will accomplisha great work in and through the lives of the team members. The foundation they lay at camp will be built upon by IM career missionaries alongside the local churches of the country. These evangelistic, conversational English Camps are an extremely intensive and effective cross-cultural ministry.
Does organizing the details of such a cross-cultural experience for the people of your church seem overwhelming? That's where IM can help. We will provide guidance through the recruitment process plus all of the training and materials you will need. We will also handle arrangements for the camps, travel details, and ministry follow-up.
Your church will recruit the team and help them to raise the necessary prayer andfinancial support.
Here's what to do:
An overseas missions experience for your congregation could effect the life of your church for years to come. Here aresome steps you can take now to see a harvest of blessing later:
- Share the Evangelistic English Language Camp concept ....with your pastor and Missions Committee.
- Organize a prayer group to pray for the raising of a team.
- Ask your pastor to express his support of the project ....from the pulpit. Supply him with dates, purpose, etc., and ....encourage him to be a part of the team. His involvement ....and support are very important.
- Enlist someone from the church to take a leadership role ....in recruiting people for the team.
- Commission talented individuals to make a few banners ....and posters announcing the project (i.e. PROJECT ....POLAND 2009).
- Saturate your church with information about the trip ....during three consecutive Sundays as soon as possible ....(e.g., pulpit interviews and announcements, Sunday ....School class announcements, bulletin inserts, etc.).
- Immediately following this, organize an informational ....meeting with all those who are interested. At this meeting ....you can share more details about EELC - dates, country ....options, costs. Hand out applications and set a deadline ....for returning them. A minimum of five people are needed ....to form a team.
- Put frequent updates in the church bulletin regarding the ....size and destination of the team. Provide a contact name ....and phone number for others who may be interested.
- Keep IM informed on your progress often.
- Immediately following the Mission Committee's review ......of the applications, send a photocopy of the ......applications and a $200.00 per person deposit to IM.
- Upon receiving the applications and deposit, IM will ......send preparation materials for the team.
- Begin meeting as a team for prayer and to delegate the ......assignments given in the preparation materials.
NOTE: Arrangements can be made to have an IM staff ......member assist with many aspects of this process.
